Rotary Club of Eastern Independence
Just a sample of what we contribute to the
community, the region and the World!
The Eastern Independence Rotary Club purchased $6,000 worth of pool equipment for the Rotary Youth Camp in Lee's Summit, MO. On Saturday, May 16, 2015, club members were on hand to unpack and set up the pool equipment to get the area ready for the thousands of campers this summer.
According to Laurie Mozley, Rotary Youth Camp Director, “ I am so excited. The kids who use the camp every year always love to sit and relax around the pool and now we have furniture they can sit at that won’t fall apart.”
The Eastern Independence Rotary was able to purchase the pool equipment thanks to a $3,000 matching grant from Rotary District 6040.
The Mission of the Rotary Youth Camp is to serve kids with emotional, mental, and physical handicaps which might not allow them to go to camp otherwise.
"Our club is so happy to be able to support such a worthwhile operation. Through our donations to Rotary Camp, we help create an experience for children in our community that they will never forget," said 2014-2015 President Laura Hudson.
According to a camp board member, Paul Searcy, "the support of the Eastern Independence Rotary Club is much appreciated. The entire camp is underwritten from donations and kept by volunteer work. This was much needed equipment."
Club members will continue to support the Rotary Youth Camp by providing care instructions for the pool equipment and to help store the equipment at the end of the season and set it up again each spring.
The Club will be adding 3 new BBQ grills in 2016!
